What is the Trader Support Service (TSS)?

The TSS is a digital platform established by the UK Government to help businesses navigate the customs changes for moving goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It assists in submitting the necessary safety, security, and customs declarations.

Do I need an EORI number to ship to Northern Ireland?

Yes. To move goods between the UK and Northern Ireland, you need an XI EORI number (starting with 'XI'). If you don’t have one, our team can guide you on how to register through the Government portal.

Who is responsible for the TSS declarations?

While the legal responsibility technically sits with the trader (the Importer of Record), PTI Express acts as your agent. We use the data you provide to complete the Entry Summary (ENS) and Simplified Frontier Declarations, ensuring your cargo moves smoothly.

What are "At Risk" and "Not at Risk" goods?

Under the Windsor Framework, goods staying in Northern Ireland are considered "Not at Risk" of entering the EU and may avoid tariffs. If goods are destined for the Republic of Ireland or the wider EU, they may be "At Risk" and subject to different duties.

Does PTI Express handle "Supplementary Declarations"?

No. The TSS process often involves a two-stage declaration. PTI Express handle the initial frontier movements to get your goods across the Irish Sea. The subsequent Supplementary Declarations are the responsibility of the ‘Importer of record’ which can be either the consignee or consignor.
